Graham Miller, Director of Racquets

With over 30 years of teaching experience, Graham brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the court. A former top state and national junior player in Australia, he's held multiple leadership roles at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch from 2002 to 2013, including Adult Tennis Director, Assistant Academy Director, and Summer Academy Director. Graham has been with us at JNCC since 2016 including the past 6 years as our Director of Racquets.

Isaac Vasquez, Program Director

Isaac Vasquez is the Junior Program Director at John Newcombe Country Club, where he has been a key part of the coaching team for over six years. Originally from Corpus Christi, Isaac combines a strong playing background with a deep passion for providing a environment for developing all levels of players.

​

Before joining Newks, Isaac coached at high school and middle school levels and worked extensively with summer tennis camps. These roles helped him hone his ability to motivate and communicate with young athletes, creating structured and positive learning environments wherever he coached.

​

 

At Newks, Isaac leads the junior program with a clear focus on fundamentals, discipline, and growth. His approach blends technical instruction with mental toughness, helping players build confidence and character both on and off the court.

​

 

Whether he’s coaching a first-time player or mentoring a high-level player, Isaac is committed to helping each athlete reach their full potential while enjoying the game.

Matt Kirkham, Program Director 

Originally from Nottingham, England, Matt is an LTA Level 3 high performance qualified pro who has held a variety of positions within Cliff Drysdale Tennis and PBI Tennis, including Junior Program Director at Bluewater Bay Tennis Center, Director of Racquets at Chateau Elan in Georgia, Hawks Cay Resort in Florida, Inn at Perry Cabin in Maryland, Carmel Valley Ranch in California and Houston Oaks in Texas before joining us at JNCC.

Nick Anderson, Racquets Professional 

Nick Anderson is dedicated to helping players take their game to the next level.

​

He picked up a racket at the age of 10 and hasn’t looked back since. After four years of varsity tennis at Lindale High School, Nick jumped straight into the professional side of the sport, coaching players at every level—from beginners learning their first forehand to championship-winning teams chasing titles.

​

Nick began his coaching career as an assistant teaching pro at Cascades Country Club before going on to lead All Saints Episcopal School in Tyler, TX, to multiple state championships, including men’s, women’s, and overall team titles. Most recently, he spent three years in Salt Lake City as the Junior Director and Teaching Professional at Liberty Hills Tennis Center, where he helped develop one of the strongest junior and adult programs in the Intermountain Region.

​

With a passion for turning potential into performance, Nick thrives on helping players see measurable progress—and often a few trophies along the way.

Catie Johnson, Racquets Professional 

Catie Johnson grew up as a top junior player in Australia before bringing her game to the U.S., where she competed in Division I college tennis at Oral Roberts University. The transition was a culture shock at first, but it provided a fantastic and highly competitive environment.

​

Catie has spent years coaching with Cliff Drysdale Tennis, working with players of all ages and levels. She’s passionate about helping players find their rhythm on court—whether that means sharpening technique, improving confidence, or sometimes just tracking down a missing water bottle.

​

With her competitive background and upbeat approach, Catie makes every session both challenging and enjoyable.

Michael Torres, Racquets Professional 

Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Michael discovered tennis at the age of 14 and quickly developed a love for the game. He went on to compete at the Division I JUCO level for Temple College, where he qualified for nationals, before continuing his collegiate career at Sul Ross State University. At Sul Ross, Michael earned a B.A. in History with a minor in Education, later completing a Master’s degree in Health and Human Performance while serving as an assistant coach at his alma mater.

​

With over 14 years of coaching experience, Michael has worked with players at every level—from beginners to advanced collegiate athletes. His coaching journey has taken him across the U.S., including Texas, Colorado, Vermont, Florida, Georgia, California, and Louisiana. Over the years, he has led programs and managed facilities, further fueling his passion for helping players grow through tennis.

​

Now based in San Antonio, Michael enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, and seeking out adventure.

George Killiford, Racquets Professional 

George Killiford is a recently retired teacher and coach with 28 years of experience, 25 of which were spent at New Braunfels High School teaching psychology and sociology while also coaching baseball and tennis. In 2018, he began playing tennis when he took on the role of assistant tennis coach at NBHS under David Mueller. Since then, he has dedicated thousands of hours to practicing and competing, achieving a USTA rating of 4.5.

​

A graduate of Texas Tech University, George played baseball during his college years and continues to stay active today as a personal trainer under Paige Miller. He and his wife, Jill, have been members of the club since 2021. Jill especially enjoys the club’s fitness classes, while George continues to pursue his passion for tennis. Together, they are proud parents of two grown children, Jacob and Jenna, and are now enjoying life as empty nesters.
